The finished product is characterized by its plump size, thick flesh, and sometimes a white sugary coating on the slightly wrinkled skin. It offers a soft, chewy texture with a predominantly sweet-and-sour flavor, often accompanied by the lingering sweetness of licorice. Prunes are naturally rich in dietary fiber and are traditionally believed to aid digestion.
